Dear Valued Business Owner;

We, SCGMBA, the Sundance Chain Gang Mtn Bike Association, are in need of sponsorship for our event in the Sundance Area; The Bearlodge Mtn Classic. We are now in 15 awesome years  This last year we succeeded in getting 160 riders to sign up and participate. The scheduled date for this event is Sept 20, 2020. We know that the current COVID-19 crisis is happening but are optimistic that it will pass way before our event is scheduled. IF not we will postpone and any sponsorship received will be put forward to next year, untouched. We have 15 pre-entries as of 3/15/2020.

We will provide T-shirts to racers/volunteers-and to sponsors if requested; this is wholly dependent on funds raised. You may have seen previous years shirts on race volunteers and racers in your own community. We are going to have brick oven pizza and beverages after the race, as is customary after a day's hard work for both volunteers and riders/racers; but, again, this is all dependent on the number of entries and sponsorship gained. Our hardworking riders and volunteers look forward to the end of such a grueling event.

  • Funds raised through the race have continued to grow cycling opportunities in Crook County providing outdoor recreation.

    • Grooming Fish Canyon And Bearlodge Fat bike Trails open to all non-motorized users, snowshoers, fat bikers depending on snow trail condition-This is a volunteer-driven relationship with Bearlodge Ranger District to provide winter recreation to Crook County.

      • Through Crook County Natural Resource District we got additional (winter) groomer, (summer)  trail tools, and encouraged the Forest Service to get Tracks for an ATV that is used to assist in grooming.

      • We have had the permits for this activity for 6 years and now have 24 miles of trails we can groom.

    • We purchased two BCA radios for grooming, trail maintenance, and race communications.

    • We also purchased 1998 Bearcat Snowmobile to groom with to supplement our needs when Forest Service snowmobiles are being utilized.

Our race is long and typically boasts a field of 120-160 riders. We went from 20 riders in 2006 to 155 riders in 2019,  and we limited the number of riders to 150. This is all the venue can handle for parking and food.

The word of mouth is like a wildfire. We only take online entries as this frees up the volunteers for maintenance, and trail prep.

This event is great fun for participants, interesting, challenging, and a wonderful time. It has already garnered a greater interest by a lot of riders who have done this event before and they are looking toward the fall event. We believe the interest, the points, feedback from past participants of a well laid out course, and good volunteers will bring our riders back.  The course itself is rumored to challenge the most aggressive rider to the novice rider. The terrain dictates “social distancing” HA HA

We know this event generates additional revenue in our community by gasoline,  convenience store sales, hotel accommodations, restaurant sales, and bar patrons. It generates a positive buzz for those sponsors, as their logo and their products are readily recognizable. It creates a good word about Sundance and its bike-friendly status as well. With your Logo on the flyers, posters, our coveted t-shirts, the world wide web; you will generate awesome name recognition for your business in the surrounding Black Hills Community. This would also be including communities in Wyoming such as Laramie, Cheyenne, Sheridan, Gillette, Torrington, and Casper to name just a few.

Please help us in this endeavor to continue to bring a fun and different event to the Sundance  Community. Our deadline for sponsorship is July 30, 2020 to ensure your logo appears on the posters and T-shirts. The poster is completed just needs sponsors. The sooner we are notified, the quicker we can release the posters into the communities.

Thank you sincerely for your consideration in this matter.
